Type locality: “Manantoddy, Madras Presidency” [= Mananthavady, the Wynaad, Malabar, N Kerala, SW India, 11°48’N, 76°01’E, elevation 760 m]. Emended to Manantoddy, Wynad fide Boulenger (1893: 301) and Manatoddy, Malabar District fide M.A. Smith (1943: 328).  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesHolotype: BMNH 1946.1.12.44 
Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Ablabes olivaceus BEDDOME 1863 is the type species of the genus Rhabdops BOULENGER 1893.

Behavior: nocturnal, but partially diurnal (Ganesh et al. 2012)
