Diagnosis | DESCRIPTION: Size small (SVL in males to 21 mm, in females to 22 mm); dorsals small, acute, flattened, imbricate, axilla to groin 26-35; no area of middorsal granules or granular scales; ventrals cycloid, imbricate, axilla to groin 24-32; dorsal caudal scales keeled, acute, imbricate, flat-lying, ventral caudal scales smooth, cycloid, enlarged midventrally; snout blunt, not depressed or decurved; snout scales large, rounded, smooth to very weakly keeled, cobble-like; 2 postnasals; 1-2 (strongly modally 1) internasals; upper labials to mideye 3-4 (mode 3); gular scales between infralabial rami large, smooth, juxtaposed; chest scales smooth; escutcheon with broad central area and extensions onto thighs to knee, 5-7 x 6-25. Color and pattern not sexually dichromatic; dorsum brown, flecked or stippled with darker pigment; dorsolateral and lateral dark lines on flanks variably expressed; head with narrow, light, dark-edged postocular stripes on dorsal temporal region with median right-angle bend at occiput forming incomplete transverse stripe; a pair of small scapular ocelli moderately prominent to faint (mode) or absent; small, dark scapular patch present or absent; sacral pattern of dark-edged, light dorsolateral lines irregularly indented and with paired ocelli at base of tail (at times), or a series of faint ocelli along proximal one-half of tail, or both (from Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 485). |
