DiagnosisDiagnosis: TORRES-CARVAJAL 2007. 
CommentBelongs to the clade Anatomegalepis (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). 
EtymologyNamed after the type locality, from the Quecchua language: apu meaning the great, and rimac meaning the talker or one who speaks. Guardia (1967) translated the word apurimac as meaning "el gran hablador" or great speaker.
