Type locality: None given. “Brésil,” fide Jan and Sordelli, 1860-66: 11.  
TypesHolotype: unlocated, a 922 mm specimen (Wallach et al. 2014). 
CommentThere is some debate about species allocation to Taeniophallus. Listed as synonym of Liophis undulatus by PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970. Not listed by GASC & RODRIGUES 1980. Most species have been assigned to Echinanthera now.

Distribution: Not listed for French Guiana by STARACE 1998. See map in Nogueira et al. 2019.

Type species: Lygophis nicagus COPE 1868: 201 is the type species of the genus Taeniophallus COPE 1895.
