Type locality.- San Nicolas, Pimanpiro [= Pimampiro, 0°26' N, 77°58'W), Prov. Imbabura, Ecuador.  
TypesHolotype: UMMZ 92074, adult female, collected 10 June 1934 by P. Hershkowitz. 
EtymologyNamed after James A. Peters (1922-1972), American herpetologist, specializing on South American reptiles.
