DiagnosisDescription: Loveridge 1947: 320.

Diagnosis: “Sehr große Schuppen (68-98 Schuppen um die Körpermitte, 10-14, meist 11-13 Interorbitalschuppen); Tuberkel völlig glatt und flach. Unter der 4. Zehe 12-18 Lamellen und verbreiterte Schuppen bis zur Zehenbasis, gewöhnlich weitere 1-2 auf der anschließenden Fußfläche; 16-20 Schuppen und Lamellen bis zur Basis der 5. Zehe. Von den drei Nasalia ist das dem Rostrale anliegende viel kleiner als die beiden anderen. Zeichnung wie bei der Nominatform, doch Grundfarbe mit rosa Anflug. Maximale Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 82.5 mm (Männchen), 79 mm (Weibchen). Gliedmaßen im Durchschnitt länger als bei anderen Subspecies. (Joger 1984: 157)

Variabilität: Bei Exemplaren aus dem Hoggar und aus Madama (Nord-Niger) herrscht der Zeichnungstyp mit zwei parallelen Dorsolateralbändern vor, während bei den übrigen Populationen die Sättel meist unverschrnolzen sind. Fast stets findet sich ein helles Vertebralband. Zur Variation der Pholidose s. Tab. 4. In den Intergradationszonen mit der Nominatform -- am Niger und im Tschadseegebiet -- sind die Schuppenwerte allgemein etwas höher. (Joger 1984: 157) 
CommentSpecies has been confused with T. annularis and T. parvicarinata (at least in Mali) and T. panousei (in Morocco, Mauritania, Western Sahara).
