Type locality: “Brasil: Maranhão: Santo Amaro, 02°33'S, 43°14'W.”  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: MZUSP 3224. Paratypes: MZUSP 3221–23, 3225, USNM 329467 (formerly MZUSP 3226) (alcoholic male, CL 144 mm), from the type locality, collected by Paulo E. Vanzolini and Maria do Socorro Pinheiro, 9–11 Mar 1993. One of the specimens was cited as MZUSP 3226 in the original description

EtymologyThe feminine Latin adiutrix, helper, honors Dr. Maria do Socorro Pinheiro, who rediscovered the species and was Vanzolini’s field companion.
