DiagnosisDiagnosis: A middle sized, stocky species, with smooth scales on the soles and smooth subdigital lamellae; short limbs and toes, subocular not narrowed, and 32 smooth scales around the body; differing from M. brevicollis, its closest relative, especially in the smooth scales of the soles and the smooth subdigital lamellae. 
EtymologyNamed after C. F. Hemming, an entomologist and expert on locusts who worked in the Somali Republic where he collected the type.
