DistributionEthiopia, Kenya, S Sudan (Jumhūriyyat), Republic of South Sudan (RSS), Uganda, Tanzania, N/E Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Somalia, probably in Republic of South Sudan (RSS) (L. Chirio, pers. comm.)

Type locality: Lake Naivasha, Kenya.

Diagnosis 
CommentNot listed for Somalia by LANZA 1990. Note that Chameleo bitaeniatus kinetensis has been elevated to full species status. 
EtymologyNamed after “bi-” = two or dual and Latin “taenia” = band or stripe.
