Type locality: Jobi Island (= Japen = Yapen), Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

karlschmidti: Papua New Guinea; Type locality: “Marienberg, Sepik River, Territory of New Guiena”.

Diagnosis 
CommentThis species has been considered as a synonym of V. indicus indicus (e.g. in GOOD et al. 1993).
