Type locality: Birchenough Bridge, Sabi River, Rhodesia, at an altitude of 450 metres.

TypesHolotype: NMZB, previously UM 1448, an adult male 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: This species differs from all other forms in the genus in the following characters: (1) usually six lower labials; (2) frontal bones completely fused; (3) tail without any taper, six rows of supracaudals persisting to the tail tip.
