| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Readily distinguished from the typical form by the rostral being widely separated from the nostril (in contact with the nostril in 144 specimens of the typical form examined), this northern race is also smaller in size. Other characters show no significant differences, as shown in the following table (Table I compares transvaalica with loveridgei).
