TypesHolotype: NMBA 6281, a 630 mm male (G. Hagmann). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Helicops hagmanni is distinguished from all its congeners by having subcaudal keels, 21–29 dorsal scale rows at midbody, and 50–59 subcaudals (for information on references see Suppl. material 3, Schöneberg & Köhler 2021).
