Distribution	India (Nilgiri Hills, Travancore Hills) Type locality: “Travancore Hills”, S Western Ghats, south of Palghat, Kerala, SW India (10° 46’ N, 76° 39’ E) [locality of neotype].

Types	Lectotype: BMNH 1946.8.17.68, designated by Eremchenko & Das (2004); Syntypes formerly BMNH 1946.8.17.68-70.
Diagnosis	Diagnosis: This species differs congeneric species of Kaestlea in the number of scales round neck (26), midbody (20-21/ mean 20.5) and abdominal scales (32-36). It differs from Kaestlea travancorica and K. palnica in having completely divided frontoparietals. Comment	OUBOTER (1986) considered this species as synonym of Scincella bilineata.
Etymology	Named after Richard Henry Beddome, 1830–1911, British army officer and botanist.
