Type locality: Mt. Bambouto, Kamerun.  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA 1939.0082,
Holotype: ZFMK 5814 [erythropleuron] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (erythropleuron). Gesamtlänge unter 12 cm, Schwanz wenig länger als Kopf und Rumpf, Körperform langgestreckt, Beine kurz. Vorder- und Hinterbeine berühren sich nicht. Unteres Augenlid beschuppt. Keine Supranasalia, Nasenloch im ungeteilten bzw. unvollkommen geteilten Nasale. Zwei Frontoparietalia und zwei vergrößerte Präanalia. Schuppen in 24 Reihen, ohne Kiele, aber die dorsalen mit zwei schwachen Längsfurchen, die feine Kiele vortäuschen. Kopf und Rücken, besonders auf dem vorderen Teil mit vielen weißen Punkten auf dem dunkelbraunen Grund. Flanken und Schwanz im Leben feuerrot, Bauchseite offenbar rötlich, Kopfunterseite dicht graubraun gefleckt. (Mertens 1968)
