The western form of N. katiensis resembles N. pallida in size and coloring, but has much lower ventral and subcaudal scale counts, it also lacks cuneates. One of the most common causes for snake-bite mortality in Senegal (Trape et al. 2001)

EtymologyNamed after the type locality in the Kati region.
