CommentSome species of this genus are venomous although we do not have information about this particular species.

Synonymy: Nguyen et al. 2025 synonymized R. guangdongensis with R. angeli.

Sympatry: Rhabdophis subminiatus.

Abundance: rare; R. guangdongensis was only known from 4 specimens and/or 4 localities (Nguyen & David 2023). R. angeli was categorized as near threatened” by Nguyen et al. 2025.

Etymology: R. guangdongensis was named after its type locality in Guangdong province, China.
