| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Distinguished from all other Rhynchoedura by possession of three enlarged mental scales and cloacal spurs comprising two to three enlarged scales; further distinguished from R. sexapora sp. nov. by two round, enlarged preanal pores, and dorsal and ventral scales flat and similar in size. |

| Etymology | mentalis refers to this species’ unique mental scale configuration within Rhynchoedura, after Latin mentum = chin. Used as a noun in apposition. |
