Belongs to the clades Scelotrema and Microphractus (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). mainly arboreal. Sympatric with S. boetteri, S. formosus, and S. scapularis (in Pasco). S. variabilis occurs allopatrically at higher elevations (>2500 m) in Junin. |
