Comment | Type species: Perinetia coulangesi DOMERGUE 1988: 135 is the type species of the genus Brygophis DOMERGUE & BOUR 1988. The name Perinetia is pre-occupied by Perinetia Collenette 1936 (Lepidoptera), Perinetia Seyrig 1952 (Hymenoptera), Perinetia Lallemand & Synave 1954 (Homoptera) and others. Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). |
Etymology | Named after Dr. Pierre Coulanges, a French epidemiologist who joined Institut Pasteur de Madagascar (1973) and was Director during a period when plague reappeared in Madagascar. The genus was named after E.R. Brygoo, French herpetologist, and Director of the Laboratoire des Reptiles et Amphibiens at the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. |
