Type locality: 8.3 km from Kouaoua/Canala road intersection on La Foa road, New Caledonia (21° 34’ S, 165° 49’ E)  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesHolotype: AMS R135141, collected by R. Sadlier, 18.iii.1990 
Diagnosis 
CommentAbundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after the Greek “cryptos”, for hidden or concealed, alluding to the recognition of this species through genetic analyses only (i.e. different patterns in protein electrophoresis).
