TypesHolotype: UMMZ 221869 (RAN 56920), adult male.
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A Calumma chameleon from Mada- gascar that differs from all congeners by the combination of rostral crests that do not unite anteriorly on the snouts, no rostral appendage or appendages in adult male, a pair of large occipital lobes that are dorsally united to each other by 4–9 mm in adults, and a blunt posterior helmet with a short transverse margin. Calumma tsycorne is most similar to C. cucullatum, but can be distinguished by the form of the posterior helmet (blunt with a short transverse margin vs. elon- gate, forming an extreme point), gular crest (present vs. absent), and male rostral appen- dages (absent vs. present as a pair). [from RAXWORTHY & NUSSBAUM 2006].
Comment
EtymologyNamed after a Malagasy combination of words: “tsy” meaning “no”, and the latin name “corne” = horn, referring to the lack of a rostral appendage in this species.
