DistributionHispaniola (SE Haiti, SW Dominican Republic), 150 ft. to 4450 ft.

bahorucoensis: uplands and north, east, and southeast slopes of the Sierra de Bahoruco, República Dominicana. Type locality: Valle de Polo, Barahona Province, República Dominicana.

southerlandi: extreme southeast Haiti, east to Pedernales-Los Arroyos border road.

Species group: Deiroptyx hendersoni species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012).

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023).
