Comment | Synonymy: JACKSON (1978) suggested that E. bibronii, E. pictus and E. catenatus were intergrading subspecies of on species. Synonymy partly after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970, ETHERIDGE 1969. The author of this species is SCHINZ 1822, not WIED 1823 (or 1825) fide MYERS et al. 2011. References: The paper of WETTSTEIN (1926) is cited in PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970 as being published in “Anz. Acad. Wiss. Wien 63: 1”. The original color plate of WIED-NEUWIED (1825) is reproduced in RODRIGUES et al. (2006). Distribution: Not in Ecuador fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2001, TORRES-CARVAJAL et al. 2019.
