Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Considerado como sinónimo de L. typhlus pero, como observa Dixon (1987), el número de las escamas ventrales no se superpone en ambos taxa (187-197, X = 191.6, versus 133-172, X = 157.1, en L. typhlus, en 331 ejemplares estudiados por el mismo Dixon, op. cit.). De la otra especie de Argentina, L. jaegeri, la coloración lo diferencia a primera vista; además la fórmula de reducción de las hileras de escamas es en guentheri 19-19-15 versus la de 17 sin reducción propia de jaegeri.
