Type locality: “Sarapigui, Brasilien.” Probably refers to Sarapiquí, Heredia, Costa Rica (See Remarks).

CommentThe type locality of “Sarapigui,” Brazil is in error and means Sarapiquí, Costa Rica (SAVAGE 1960, DOWNS 1967).

Very rare. Only known from 10 specimens (SAVAGE & WATLING 2008). 
EtymologyNamed after Alexander Grant Ruthven (1882-1971), American herpetologist.
