CommentSynonymy: Molecular analyses consistently place Angolosaurus within Gerrhosaurus, rendering the latter genus paraphyletic (Lamb et al. 2003). As a consequence, Angolosaurus has to be synonymized with Gerrhosaurus.

Type species: Gerrhosaurus skoogi ANDERSSON 1916 is the type species of the genus Angolosaurus FITZSIMONS 1953, which is currently considered as a synonym of Gerrhosaurus.
Etymologynamed after the collector of the type, H. Skoog.
