CommentDistribution: not in Hong Kong fide Francis 2021.

Synonymy: Li et al. 2022, revalidated maximus to full species level. They also failed to accurately distinguish H. s. bourreti from H. s. sauteri and thus suggested that H. s. bourreti is likely to be a synonym of H. s. sauteri. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Hans Sauter (1871-1943), entomologist who developed an interest in herpetology. He studied biology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.
