CommentBelongs to the wiegmanni group of Liolaemus. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin riojanus, from La Rioja, an Argentine province. [“...The subspecific name denotes the geographical area where this form was discovered...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
