Diagnosis 
CommentAccording to COGGER 1983 the anonymous description is equivocal and requires resolution by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. Until that decision STORR 1968 will be tentatively considered as describer.

Habitat: Rock-dwelling. 
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin modestus (moderate, unassuming), in reference to the plain coloration of this species in comparison to Liopholis whitii). (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
