| Comment | The syntypes of this species are actually specimens of Pedioplanis lineoocellata pulchella GRAY, 1845.
Distribution: populations from Angola have been re-assigned to Pedioplanis huntleyi or P. haackei.

Abstract of Case 2085 (formatting that of Amphibia-Reptilia): The purpose of this application is to conserve usage of the name Pedioplanis undata ( A. Smith, 1838) f or t he ‘wester n sand l izard¢of souther n Afri ca. The recently rediscovered syntypes are specimens of P. lineoocellata pulchella Gr ay, 1845 and not of P. undata auct., but acceptance of this typificati on would r esult in very considerable confusion. The name P. undata would be transf err ed t o P. l. pulchella auct. , the taxon known as P. u. undata would have to have a new as a subspecies of P. inornata Roux, 1907, and there would be other c ® Koninklijke Bri ll NV, Leiden, 2000 Amphibia-Reptilia 21: 409-410 410 SEH News changes of accepted names. I t is proposed that these consequences should be avoided by the designat ion of a neot ype f or Lacerta undat a A. Smith, 1838.

Pedioplanis undata inornata (ROUX 1907) has been elevated to full species status.
