Type locality: near Kotting along the upper Maumeri river, Flores, Indonesia, elevation 220 m [ca. 8.68°S, 122.19°E].

CommentSynonymy: Stegonotus sutteri FORCART 1953 was removed from the synonymy of S. florensis by Kaiser et al. 2018. According to Forcart 1953 Lycodon florensis should be named Stegonotus florensis since the teeth are more Stegonotus than Lycodon-like. This species is known from only 2 specimens. 
EtymologyNamed after Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, where the holotype was collected.
