DiagnosisDiagnosis: Medium-sized, up to 61 nun from snout to vent; tail long and whip-like; toes scarcely depressed, not expanded, often with slight fringe; three rows of scales beneath; first upper labial scale usually reaching nostril but rostral excluded, nostril directed forwards, outwards and slightly upwards; preanal pores absent; cloacal tubercles in 2-3 rows; autotomy. restricted to tail base or absent; prefrontal projection moderate; upper border of prootic sloping downwards; epipterygoid separated from skull roof in protracted skull; usually 25 presacral vertebrae; five nuchal ribs, 6 basal caudal vertebrae; clavicle expanded [ARNOLD 1980: 388].

CommentSynonymy: Stenodactylus stenurus WERNER 1899, previously a synonym of S. petrii, is now treated as valid species.
