Type locality: N Australia (“W Australia” in original description).
Reproductionoviparous
TypesLectotype: BMNH xxii.3a, collector unknown (designated by COGGER 1983).
Diagnosis
CommentThe type series of Oedura rhombifer Gray 1845 is composite. The SE-Queensland morph of O. rhombifer has been described as Oedura jacovae by COUPER et al. (2007). Oedura jacovae sp. nov. is not conspecific with the lectotypes of O. rhombifer (BMNH xxii.3a) or O. lesueurii (MNHN 268).

Karyotype: 2n = 36 (King 1987)
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin rhombus (rhombus or diamond) plus -fer (bearing), alluding to the zig-zag pattern on the dorsum. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
