Diagnosis 
CommentSpecies group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012) 
EtymologyNamed after the Latin words ocellatus (marked with spots) and scapula (shoulder-blade). The name is used in reference to the distinctive shoulder spot of this species.
