DistributionE Brazil (from Pernambuco south to Santa Catarina; Minas Gerais, Bahia, Paraíbaetc.)

Type locality: Cabeça do Boi, Bahia, Brazil (fide ETHERIDGE 1968) [= Jequié, Bahia]; “sertao (= interior) of Bahia” (fide JACKSON 1978).

DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): ETHERIDGE 1969: 235. For a comparison of Enyalius and Enyalioides see ETHERIDGE 1969: 256. 
CommentSynonymy partly after Peters et al. 1970, ETHERIDGE 1969. JACKSON (1978) suggested that E. bibronii, E. pictus and E. catenatus were intergrading subspecies of one species.

Type species: Agama catenata WIED 1821 is the type species of the genus Enyalius WAGLER 1830 (by designation, FITZINGER 1843: 16).
