Type locality: "at Dalat and Camly at 1500 metres, on the Langbian Plateau, Southern Annam, (Indo-China)." [Vietnam].

TypesSyntypes: BMNH 1946.1.15.87 and 1946.1.15.88 (orig. MAS 2143 and 2145), 310 and 345 mm males, BMNH 1965.1 (orig. MAS 2144), a 395 mm female (M.A. Smith and C. B. Kloss, March-May, 1917). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): Maxillary teeth small, 30 to 35, equal dentary loosely attached to the articular. Head not distinct from neck eye small, with rounded or vertically subelliptic pupil; nostril in the anterior part of a large concave nasal no preocular loreal very large, extending from the nasal to the eye ; rostral, mental and labials with raised, everted edges. Body slender, cylindrical; scales keeled, in 30 to 33 rows ventral rounded tail moderate; subcaudals single. (Smith 1943) 
CommentType species: Fimbrios klossi SMITH 1921 is the type species of the genus Fimbrios SMITH 1921. 
EtymologyNamed after Cecil Boden Kloss (1877-1949), director of the Raffles Museum in Singapore from 1923 to 1932.
