CommentSynonymy: Bauer (1994) discusses synonymy issues with G. australis, grayi, variegata etc. and synonymized Dactyloperus kingi with G. variegata. KLUGE 1993 includes G. torresiana GÜNTHER 1877 in the synonymy list of G. dubia. In addition, KLUGE (1993) lists [Gehyra] mestoni and [Gehyra] grayi as synonyms of Gehyra variegata.
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin dubius (doubtful), possibly relating to uncertainty in Macleay's mind about the distinction of this species. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
