CommentSynonymy: Graptemys pseudogeographica kohnii (Baur, 1890) has been raised to species status, but later again synonymized with pseudogeographica (Vogt 1993). CONANT & COLLINS 1991 treat kohnii and pseudogeographica as separate species but point out that their relationships are controversial.

Diet: omnivore.

Habitat: freshwater (lakes, rivers)

Similar species: Juvenile Graptemys kohnii closely resemble
juvenile G. oculifera in skull characteristics, and these species may be closely allied. Ewert (1979) conducted incubation studies on Graptemys from Winona, Minnesota, and some clutches yielded both the kohnii and pseudogeographica patterns of head striping. Further studies using different incubation temperatures resulted in variable numbers of kohnii-type hatchlings from each clutch; more kohnii hatched at 25°C than at 30°C. The relationship between these two species needs additional study. (Ernst & Barbour 1989)
Etymologynot genuine map-like; referring to its resemblance of Graptemys geographica
