Type locality: Pionierbivak, Mamberamo River, NW New Guinea.  
Reproductionovovivparous 
TypesHolotype: ZMA.RENA 11066 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Internasal separates nasals, loreal and prefrontals fused on each side with narrow contact between right and left sides on mid-line of snout. No other homalopsid snake has this combination of characters (Murphy & Voris 2014: 22). 
CommentOnly known from the holotype.

Type species: Heurnia ventromaculata JONG 1926 is the type species of the genus Heurnia DE JONG 1926.
