| Etymology | Named after Captain R H R Taylor who was an officer in the Royal Artillery and an administrator in British Somaliland (now part of Somalia). In 1934 he was a member of the Anglo-Ethiopian Boundary Commission. He returned to England in 1935 by travelling through Ethiopia and Sudan. In 1942 he was co-author with Parker, who described this reptile, of The lizards of British Somaliland. |
