Type locality: Yi'ong, Bomi Co., Xizang Autonomous Region: 2350 m elevation. Only known from the type locality.

TypesHolotype: CIB 7315012, Male: Coll. Y. M. Jiang; 6. 11, 1973. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Closely related in morphology to Laudakia sacra but the latter taxon has the lateral scales uniform in size and not intermixed with large scales [BAIG et al. 2012]. 
CommentAbundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after Gangfu Wu (b. 1935), Chinese herpetologist who, like Er-mi Zhao, worked at the Department of Zoology, Chengdu Institute of Biology.
