Comment | Type Species: Rhodona fragilis Günther 1876 is the type species of the genus Krishna WELLS 2012: 292. WELLS 2012: 47 erected this genus for the species K. fragilis. Unfortunately WELLS did not provide a phylogenetic analysis of the genera into which he broke up Lerista, hence we leave the current genus Lerista intact for the time being. Rhodona fragilis Günther, 1876 is also the type species of the genus Tridentulus COPE 1892, a synonym of Lerista, fide Shea 2021. Distribution: reports from New Guinea apparently in error (Allen Allison, pers. comm., 20 Feb 2017). Not in NSW, but close to the Qld-NSW border (G. Shea, pers. comm., 5 March 2021). Limb morphology: 3 digits, 3 toes |
Etymology | Presumably named after the Latin fragilis (brittle), and after the small size, slender body and weak limbs of the species. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024) |
