Holotype: WAM R54707, from Denham, Shark Bay, 25° 55’ S, 113° 22’ E, W. A. [decora]
Holotype: WAM 104406, collected by B. Maryan and R. Browne-Cooper on 11 March 1990 [maryani]
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A medium-sized Lerista with ventrolateral keel, digits 2 + 3, eyelid movable, and temporals normally 1 + 1. Distinguishable from L. p. decora by more numerous midbody scale rows, darker head and narrower upper lateral stripe (Storr 1978: 312).
CommentType Species: Rhodona planiventralis Lucas and Frost, 1902 is the type species of the genus Goldneyia WELLS 2012: 229. WELLS 2012: 229 erected the genus for G. decora, maryani, planiventralis. Unfortunately WELLS did not provide a phylogenetic analysis of the genera into which he broke up Lerista, hence we leave the current genus Lerista intact for the time being.

Behavior: both diurnal and nocturnal

Limb morphology: 2 digits, 3 toes
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin planus (flat) plus venter (belly) plus the suffix -alis (having the condition of), in reference to the flattened ventral surface, extending laterally to form ventrolateral keels. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
