Type locality: 10 km WNW of Mt Augustus Homestead, WA [24°17'S 116°48'E].

TypesHolotype: WAM R84198. 
Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Lerista stictopleura Storr, 1985 is the type species of the genus Xynoscincus Wells and Wellington, 1988. WELLS 2012: 136 revived Xynoscincus for the species Xynoscincus stictopleurus (Storr, 1985). Unfortunately WELLS did not provide a phylogenetic analysis of the genera into which he broke up Lerista, hence we leave the current genus Lerista intact for the time being.

EtymologyFrom Greek stictos (spotted) and pleura (side).
