Type locality: “Pampa Chucuyo, 10 km from Parinacota (18 ̊12'S, 69 ̊15'W) SE of the Pallachata; 4,240 m, prov. Parinacota, Chile".

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Langstroth 2021 considered Liolaemus pleopholis Laurent 1998 a species inquirenda allied with L. lenzi. He “would not hesitate to place Liolaemus pleopholis Laurent 1998 in the synonymy of L. lenzi, however, such as decision would be contradicted by the mtDNA-informed phylogenetic estimate of Aguilar-Puntriano et al. (2018) or the total evidence hypothesis of Abdala et al. (2020).”

Distribution: see map in Langstroth 2021: 124 (Fig. 6). 
Etymologynamed after the large number and fragmented scales, “pleopholis” meaning “more scales”.
