Subspecies
Common NamesE: Roux's Lipinia
SynonymLeiolopisma rouxi HEDIGER 1934
Lipinia rouxi — GREER 1974: 11
Lipinia rouxi — MYS 1988: 140
Lipinia rouxi — DAS & AUSTIN 2007
DistributionNew Ireland Island (NE of Papua New Guinea), Bismarck Archipelago

Type locality: Fissoa, Neu-Irland (lectotype locality)
ReproductionSome diagnostic differences involve their mode of reproduction. L. rouxi is oviparous, whereas noctua is ovoviviparous. In addition, rouxi has lost the left oviduct and thus lays only one egg, while both oviducts are functioning in noctua (GREER & MYS 1987).
TypesLectotype: NMBA 11690 (= NHMB)
Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: Lipinia rouxi has been previously synonymized with L. noctua by ZWEIFEL (1979).

22– 28 midbody scale rows; 8–9 supraciliaries; 22–26 lamellae under toe IV; left oviduct missing; venter greenish-white in life (fide Greer and Mys, 1987) and arboreal habits (from DAS & AUSTIN 2007).
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Jean Roux (1876-1939), a zoologist who gained his doctorate at Universite de Geneve (1899) and studied protozoa in Berlin until 1902.
