Type locality: Shipwreck Creek, approx. 20 km SW of Mallacoota, in 37° 37’ S, 149° 39’ E, Vic.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A small member of the E. luctuosa group, distinguishable from E. luctuosa by its striped rather than spotted back and long postnarial groove; it is also smaller, with relatively shorter appendages, smaller ear aperture, nasals and prefrontals, and fewer midbody scale rows, subdigitallamellae, supraciliaries and upper labials (Storr 1978: 175). 
Comment 
EtymologyNamed after Albert John Coventry (b. 1936) who worked for 47 years at Museum Victoria as a herpetologist and is now Emeritus Curator of Herpetology.
