Type locality: “Centrum ...Madagascar” [Scalabotes hildebrandti PETERS 1883]
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: ZMB 10451
Holotype: ZMB 10452 [Scalabotes hildebrandti PETERS 1883]
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Microscalabotes bivittis differs from all Malagasy Lygodactylus by having undivided subdigital lamellae at fingers and toes (3–6 undivided lamellae under fourth toe). It further differs from species in the L. madagascariensis group by the semi-divided mental (vs. undivided) and by the presence (vs. absence) of a claw on the first finger; from the species in the L. mirabilis group by granular (vs. keeled or partially keeled) dorsal scales; from the species in the L. verticillatus group by a non-whorled tail (vs. whorled); from L. ornatus by the absence (vs. presence) of transversal lines on the throat; and from L. tolampyae by the rather indistinct contact between posterior part of mental and first infralabial (vs. very distinct and broad contact). (PUENTE et al. 2009)
CommentA phylogenetic analysis by RÖLL et al. (2010) showed that Microscalabotes is nested within Lygodactylus and thus needs to be synonymized.

Karyotype: see Mezzasalma et al. 2016.
