Type locality: rocky stretches along the Brazos River north of Palo Pinto, Palo Pinto County, Texas.

CommentNerodia harteri paucimaculata has been elevated to full species status. 
EtymologyNamed after “Mr. Philip Harter, a most enthusiastic and energetic collector of Palo Pinto, TX”, and collector of the holotype.
